Brighton College Prep Handcross is seeking to appoint a Director of Music to start September 2025.

We are looking for someone who can oversee and develop the teaching of Music across the whole School. You will manage the Music Department, providing leadership and support to teachers and peripatetic music tutors throughout the school from Nursery to Year 8.

Application process

A brief letter of application (no more than 2 typed pages) highlighting why you are the ideal candidate and a completed and signed application form should be addressed to the Headmaster, Jonnie Besley, as soon as possible.

The deadline for applications is 28th February 2025 but we encourage early applications and may well interview on a rolling basis. Selected candidates will have an initial interview, possibly online, and those who are selected for the final stage will be invited to school for a panel interview and to complete a number of other tasks. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are 'spent' unless they are 'protected' under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
