The EA Trading Company Ltd. (Access EA) currently has two divisions, one overseeing all lets and utilisation of facilities within our Arboretum Road Sports Hub, the second dealing with all commercial activities associated with letting the facilities and management of events, in addition to selling our advertising spaces.

The role of Sports Hub Supervisor will report to the Sports Hub Manager and deputise for them as required in the day-to-day management of the Sports Hub, ensuring safe and effective working practices are in place which are delivered to an exceptional level of customer standards. You will support the Sports Hub Manager in leading and motivating the sport operations team in the delivery of the operational and financial strategy.

You will be involved with but not limited to the following duties: overseeing the smooth running of the Sports Hub and outdoor sports areas, developing customer relationships, and ensuring safety of the clients. Heading up team recruitment, training and development, shift rostering, coaching, general running of services, administration, dealing with customers questions, First aid, and health and safety.

We operate a full programme of holiday camps for our local children so your role will be involved in the logistical planning and operation of these camps. It is a growing area of revenue and key to the operation of the role.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, an abundance of energy, enthusiasm, and drive. You will have experience delivering an amazing customer experience in a customer facing business such as health and fitness, sports centres. You will have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as these are our busy trade times.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Leisure Centre staff member or Senior Sports Coach looking for a step into management with long-term development opportunities.

General:

  • Deputise for the Sports Hub Manager as and when required.
  • Maintain operating procedures, including risk assessments. Oversee maintenance, cleaning; recruiting, training, and supervising staff, including managing staff rotas
  • Carrying out health and safety checks on the equipment and site to include weekly and monthly checks, reporting any maintenance issues to the facilities team
  • Support the Sports Hub Manager in completing competitor analysis, monitoring trends across all revenue streams within the Sports Hub, and deriving a quality, competitive programme to maximise usage of all facilities.
  • Handling complaints and incidents, e.g., accidents, emergencies, or theft

Sports Hub

  • Working with the Sports Hub Manager to design and promote classes and activities to meet customer demand and generate revenue. Delivering fitness training or working with external providers to do so.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure positive communication and engagement on all let bookings, coordinating set up, cleaning and maintenance of all spaces
  • Develop an attractive range of children's birthday party packages to promote to the external market, maximising use of the facilities within lull times, expanding our customer reach and brand awareness.
  • Work with both the Sports Hub Manager and the Commercial Director to review the operation of the Sports Hub, scheduling self-generated events and additional facility use to ensure all facilities are used to the optimum level and we our customer reach expands annually.

Holiday Camps

  • Before each holiday club begins, support the Sports Hub Manager with the administration, preparation, and planning of the holiday camp programme.
  • Child safety is our number one priority, and the welfare of children is paramount together with upholding health and safety standards and procedures.
  • During camp season, be onsite through the day, acting as a coach during the holiday period or leading the camps in the absence of the Sports Club Manager, installing a positive and enjoyable working environment for the full team, both internal and external.

Financial, HR and Administrative Responsibility

  • Adhere to the companies or organisation’s financial policies and procedures
  • Ensure all team members are trained in end of day procedures to include till operations and venue lock down.
  • Support the Sports Club Manager in all admin duties to include inputting detail into the back-office systems, responding to customer enquiries, raising invoices, and following up on bad debt with the finance management.
  • Manage any immediate performance issues and escalate to the Head of Sports and Activities when appropriate
  • Ensuring own and staff members' first aid and all other necessary training is up to date
  • Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.
  • Assisting with ad hoc admin duties, suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and events as required during working days

While these are the key responsibilities of the role, this is not necessarily an exhaustive list, and other duties may be required to ensure the smooth running of events in Edinburgh Academy facilities.

Proven Experience

  • Experience working with children from 5 – 17 years
  • Experience in a leadership position in a Leisure or customer facing environments
  • Passion for play, physical activity, and a healthy lifestyle is desirable

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities

  • Childcare, sports or teaching related degree (or related qualification)
  • Knowledge and experience of Child Protection, Safeguarding and Health and Safety
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate
  • Safeguarding experience and understanding
  • First Aid certificate
