We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Visting Music Teacher for Singing from September 2026 who can inspire and enthuse others and who will be willing to contribute and add to our established extracurricular programme.
Visiting Music Teachers form a vital part of the Music Department at Concord College. Our team of Visiting Music Teachers provide expert one-to-one tuition, helping to support and guide the students through their music journey. The Visiting Music Teacher also plays an active and supporting role for all Music department activities, through the provision of clubs and activities, such as ensembles and choirs. The successful applicant will have the ability to provide instrumental or vocal tuition expertly and confidently to all age groups (13-19). They should have the ability to teach a main instrument or voice up to and including diploma standard, with a proven track record of helping students pass their music exams or succeeding in their musical aims. Ideally, the applicant will themselves be an active performing musician, for example, in an orchestra/band, chamber group or choir. They will also be up to date in their teaching practice with a solid record of CPD.
The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to work at one of the country’s leading independent schools and within a well-resourced and thriving Music department. They will be leading one to one singing lessons to respectful and hard-working students (between 13-19 years) who are eager to excel in everything they do. Our students’ musical interests are varied and include classical, musical theatre and popular vocal styles. Therefore tuition, performing and accompanying experience covering all these styles will be an advantage. Alongside individual teaching, there is the opportunity to lead the college Choir and Chamber Choir and to assist and participate in the numerous music events run as part of the performing art calendar.
Currently there are 13 hours per week available. This includes 11.5 hours per week of one-to-one teaching and 1.5 hours leading the college Choir and Chamber Choir. Due to the casual nature of the role, however, there will be no set or standard hours of work, nor will there be a guaranteed minimum number of hours of work, as hours of attendance will fluctuate depending on student demand. Lessons take place off timetable, this year on Tuesdays from 4.00pm and Wednesdays from 12:30pm. Applicants should be suitably qualified and have a relevant degree or vocational qualifications.
