Summary

Farleigh is seeking to appoint a passionate and energetic full-time Teacher of PE & Games from September 2025 or January 2026 to join our lively and successful department.

Detail

The purpose of the role is lead within the Games programme, and to utilise extensive coaching skills and knowledge, to advise and support others to deliver the sports’ programme, and support a fixture programme which meets the needs of all pupils at Farleigh.


Role Specifications

  • Deliver high-quality PE and Games lessons across all age groups (3-13), including swimming
  • Demonstrate a high level of subject knowledge and the ability to deliver excellent lessons, which engage all pupils
  • Lead the coaching and development of cricket and football throughout the school, ensuring both participation and performance
  • Support the delivery of rugby coaching as part of the games programme
  • Organise and run lunchtime and after-school sports activities, including cricket nets and drop-in sessions, with a focus on inclusivity and pupil engagement
  • Provide tailored support and development for sports scholars and gifted pupils, including preparation for senior school scholarships
  • Coach and manage school teams, attending fixtures and tournaments, some of which will take place on exeat weekends
  • Assist with planning and delivery of future sports tours and whole-school sporting events such as Sports Day, Swimming Galas, and Cross-Country meets
  • Promote and maintain high standards of pupil conduct, sportsmanship and presentation on and off the field
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to departmental planning, CPD, and the ongoing development of sport at Farleigh
  • Liaise professionally and positively with parents, staff from other schools, and external partners
  • Maintain records of pupil progress, achievement and effort, and contribute to written reports and parents’ evenings
  • Be confident in the use of technology
  • Be willing to uphold and support the Catholic ethos of the school


The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status preferred
  • Be passionate and enthusiastic about delivering sport for all
  • Have previous experience of successful sports coaching
  • Demonstrate a high level of subject knowledge and the ability to deliver excellent lessons, which engage all children
  • Be an excellent communicator with pupils, parents, staff and external stakeholders such as other schools and national governing bodies
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills
  • Have a positive understanding of the level of personal and professional commitment in a boarding school community
  • Support the need for continuous professional development
