Farleigh School is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Sports Coach to join our dynamic Sports Department. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and develop pupils’ sporting abilities across a range of disciplines, while promoting teamwork, resilience, and a love of physical activity.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality coaching sessions and support school teams in fixtures and competitions. Experience in one or more of the following sports are desirable: rugby, football, cricket, netball, or hockey. A willingness to learn and adapt is essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of coaching principles and child development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare

Desirable:

  • Coaching qualifications in one or more sports
  • Previous experience in a school or youth sports setting
  • First Aid qualification

Particular Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging coaching sessions for pupils of varying ages and abilities.
  • Coach school teams and take responsibility for their preparation and performance in fixtures, tournaments, and competitions.
  • Accompany teams to fixtures and take responsibility for umpiring or officiating matches as required.
  • Promote participation and enjoyment in sport while encouraging excellence and fair play.
  • Assist with the organisation of sports events and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards and safeguarding requirements.
  • Maintain and care for sports equipment and facilities.
  • Provide feedback to pupils and liaise with teaching staff on progress and development.
  • Uphold the school’s Catholic values and ethos.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to drive a minibus for transporting pupils to fixtures and events.
  • Any other duties which may be assigned commensurate with the post and in keeping with the nature of the Prep school environment
