Summary

Forest School is in the unique position of having three science teaching positions available. We require a teacher of each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We have two permanent positions available and one fixed-term maternity cover position.

Detail

The postholders will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching with the aim of helping students master the key concepts in their areas of specialism and use them to interpret the world around them. The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way. In addition, they will be expected to contribute to the routine and extra-curricular life of the school, as well as that of the department.

A balanced science programme, incorporating and extending beyond most of the features of the National Curriculum, is taught to pupils in Year 7 to 9 and satisfies the programme of study for Key Stage 3. Sciences are taught separately from Year 7 at Forest, each group taught by three specialist teachers. Year 9 follows a programme of study in preparation for their Science IGCSEs and in Year 10, pupils choose either all three sciences, two separate sciences, or Double Award Science, following the Edexcel IGCSE courses. All three sciences are popular subjects at A Level. Biology and Chemistry follow the AQA A Level specification, and Physics follows the Pearson Edexcel specification.
