Psychology Department Information

Psychology is one of the most popular subjects in the sixth form at Francis Holland, with the department delivering the AQA A-Level as a two-year course. We have two teaching groups in LVI and two in UVI.

Many of our students choose to continue their studies at degree level. We offer enrichment sessions to extend knowledge, understanding and interest beyond A-level. We organise trips to relevant events linking these to the psychological content of enrichment sessions.

All lessons are delivered in the school’s inspiring new sixth form centre, The Old School House, which is a wonderful environment for intellectual debate, research and collaboration. Classrooms are equipped with docking stations and IT equipment that supports the school’s digital strategy, centred on O365 and the Microsoft Surface, with the Psychology department creatively and innovatively combining the best of classical and contemporary approaches to pedagogy.
