We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Head of Business and Economics to lead, develop and inspire our dynamic department.
The Hurst Business and Economics department is a thriving and collegiate community of eight teachers. The subjects are well established at Hurst with at least four sets of both Business and Economics in each year group and class sizes of no more than 14. Currently across the Sixth Form over 200 students study either Business or Economics, and roughly half of these students opt to study a Business or Economics related course at university.
The department runs weekly university preparation sessions, as well as offering the Young Enterprise programme and an Entrepreneurship lecture series for super-curricular engagement on top of working closely with the Futures team to offer a wide range of work experience related opportunities to the students.
Our core-belief as a department is that students should approach their studies with integrity and good-humour. To achieve this the department has its own set of in-house textbooks that provide students with the notes they need for each topic, allowing lessons to be used for activities and explanations that inspire and give the students the ability to practice applying their knowledge and receiving plenty of feedback as to how to improve.
