Pennthorpe School is seeking an inspirational, enthusiastic and technically skilled Head of Computing & IT to join its thriving school community. This role is based at Pennthorpe School in Rudgwick, West Sussex, a leading independent prep school that became part of the Hurst Family of Schools in January 2026,

We are looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner with excellent technical skills who is equally comfortable leading inspiring Computing lessons and providing practical IT leadership across the school. This unique and varied role sits at the intersection of education and technology, combining responsibility for the strategic leadership of Computing from Years 1 to 8 with oversight of the school's day-to-day IT provision, systems and digital infrastructure.

The successful candidate will:

• Lead and develop an engaging and progressive Computing curriculum across Years 1 to 8.
• Inspire pupils' digital literacy, creativity and problem-solving skills.
• Support colleagues in the effective use of technology throughout the curriculum.
• Lead Computing clubs, competitions and other enrichment opportunities.
• Act as the school's first point of contact for day-to-day IT support.
• Work closely with external IT providers to ensure the smooth running of systems and infrastructure.
• Support and maintain classroom technology, laptops, tablets, printers and interactive displays.
• Manage user accounts, device deployment and technology resources.
• Champion online safety and digital citizenship across the school community.
• Play a key role in shaping and delivering Pennthorpe's digital strategy.
