We are looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant/Receptionist to join our team.

Detail

Key responsibilities include involvement with the following and will be supervised by a qualified nurse. This description is not exhaustive and may well be subject to change over time. The intention is to offer candidates an accurate impression of the expectations commensurate with the post and an outline of the role as it is envisaged currently.

The postholder’s duties will involve, but will not necessarily be limited to:

Meet and greet visitors to the Health & Wellbeing Centre.

Triage of unwell and injured pupils/staff.

Enter details onto the school’s iSAMS system.

Provide assessment and management of pupils attending the medical centre when the school nurse is not in attendance.

Provision of First Aid treatment on school campus as required.

Provide basic care for the unwell child.

Provision of basic wound management

Recording and monitoring pupils’ temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood sugars

Performing and recording visual acuity testing, colour blind checks, peak flow monitoring, height, weight, blood pressure and urinalysis testing for new patient medicals

Understanding the Asthma protocol and to give treatment in an emergency.

Understanding the Anaphylaxis protocol and to give treatment in an emergency.

Understanding the Blood Sugar Monitoring protocol and to give treatment in an emergency.

Ordering and stocking of medication and medical supplies

To administer medication to pupils/staff in accordance with school drug administration policy

Stocking of the school First Aid Kits

Extracting data from the iSAMs school system i.e., medical reports of boarders for boarding houses and trips

Administration work of organising school medicals and filing of all medical papers.

Administration work of organising whole school/year group vaccination programmes.

Communication links to teachers, parents, and other health care professionals.

Transfer and escort injured pupils to the Minor Injuries Unit/A&E and unwell pupils to St. Mary`s Surgery for review.

Transfer and escort injured or unwell pupils to hospital as required.

Escorting pupils to medical appointments as required.
