Summary

Are you a passionate and accomplished debater looking to inspire the next generation? The King’s School, Canterbury, is seeking a Graduate Debater in Residence to run (in tandem with the Debating Coordinator) our thriving Debating and Oracy Society.

Start Date: September 2025

What You’ll Do:

Coach students in British Parliamentary debating and public speaking
Plan and deliver debate training, competitions, and strategy
Support students of all levels, from beginners to top competitors
Lead interhouse debates, judge rounds, and curate motions
Accompany teams to national competitions (10-15 trips per year)

What We’re Looking For:

Extensive experience in high-level competitive debating (e.g., Team England)
Experience of public speaking, BP and ESU Mace formats
Recent experience of the university debating circuit and the trends within judging and motion setting
Strong coaching, judging, and public speaking skills
Excellent communication and organisational abilities
Enthusiasm for working with students of all backgrounds
