  • Full-time

Summary

The new Head of Junior King’s will provide inspirational leadership, shaping the future direction of the school while preserving the distinctive warmth, pastoral strength, academic ambition and creative spirit that are its hallmarks.

Detail

Junior King’s is a thriving, highly successful co-educational prep school for 340 pupils aged 2–13, set in 80 acres of beautiful Kent countryside just outside Canterbury. With a rich heritage, outstanding facilities and a distinctive ethos that combines academic excellence with creativity, kindness and breadth, it is one of the leading prep schools in the country. Junior King’s forms an integral part of The King’s School Canterbury, one of the oldest and most distinctive schools in the UK, and enjoys a close relationship with the Senior School alongside its own strong identity.

Under the overall leadership of Jude Lowson, King’s is entering a bold phase of expansion and renewal. The Senior School has just opened a new day house, making it larger than at any point in its history. There are two overseas King’s Schools, with agreements in place for further expansion, and a programme of investment across the Foundation, including at Junior King’s. Against this backdrop, we are seeking an exceptional Head to lead Junior King’s with vision and ambition, ensuring the Junior School continues to thrive while contributing to the strategic development of the wider King’s Group.

Reporting directly to the Head of King’s, the new Head of Junior King’s will provide inspirational leadership, shaping the future direction of the school while preserving the distinctive warmth, pastoral strength, academic ambition and creative spirit that are its hallmarks. The successful candidate will combine a proven track record of senior leadership in a comparable school with strategic acumen, the expertise to lead confidently across educational, pastoral and operational domains, and the capacity to inspire staff, pupils and parents alike.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative, dynamic and forward-thinking leader to make a profound impact at one of the country’s most distinctive prep schools.
