We are seeking an outstanding and inspiring Teacher of Business to join our expanding Economics and Business Department at New Hall School. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Business, contributing to the continued growth, academic success, and co-curricular development of the department.

With increasing student numbers choosing Economics and Business at A Level, and the planned introduction of BTEC Business from September 2027, this role offers exciting opportunities for curriculum development and departmental innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • to plan, prepare and deliver lessons in A Level Business and BTEC Business
  • to prepare students effectively for external examinations
  • to motivate, challenge and inspire students of all abilities to achieve their full potential
  • to maintain high standards of classroom management and student engagement.
  • to monitor, assess and report on student progress in line with school policies
  • to contribute to the development of schemes of work and curriculum resources, including the introduction of BTEC Business from September 2027
  • to have the ability to teach Economics as a second subject would be advantageous
  • to contribute positively to a growing and forward-thinking Economics and Business Department
  • to assist with the department’s clubs, societies and co-curricular activities.
  • to contribute to examination preparation and, where relevant, public examination processes
  • to promote and safeguard the welfare of children at all times
  • to support students’ academic and personal development
  • to contribute to the wider life of the School, including coaching a sport team or undertaking coaching training (desirable)

Essential Criteria

  • to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims of a Catholic independent boarding and day school
  • to be committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children
  • to be educated to degree level with a minimum of 2:1 in Business, Business Management or a related subject
  • to have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • to have previous experience in teaching A Level Business
  • to have the ability to teach BTEC Business
  • to have excellent communication skills, with a high standard of spoken and written English
  • to be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • to be able to plan, prepare and deliver lessons to a high standard
  • to be willing to support clubs, societies and co-curricular activities
  • to take initiative, drive and enthusiasm to develop students’ interest in Business (and Economics where applicable)
  • to build positive relationships with students and support their personal development

    New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School’s conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, with a staff of around 300.

    Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall’s Avenue: 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow airport. There are nearby airports: London Stansted, London Southend and London City.
