Detail

About This Role

The Sports Graduate will play a key role in supporting and enhancing the school’s sporting programme, contributing to both performance sport and inclusive participation. Working closely with the Director of Sport and PE department, the postholder will assist with lesson delivery, coach a range of sports including netball, lacrosse, cricket, swimming, and tennis, and support co-curricular activities. The role also involves assisting with fixtures, officiating matches, and undertaking administrative duties. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate to gain hands-on experience, develop coaching skills, and inspire students to build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong enthusiasm for sport.

Working Hours

This is a term-time role running from September 2026 to July 2027. Working hours are primarily Monday to Friday during the school day, with additional commitments to afternoon fixtures and regular Saturday matches. The role requires flexibility, as hours will vary depending on the sports schedule, training sessions, and competitions. The postholder will also be expected to accompany teams to fixtures and occasionally support extracurricular activities and wider school duties such as supervision or events. School holidays and exeat weekends are generally nonworking periods, offering a balanced structure alongside the busy term-time schedule.

Remuneration

The role offers a salary of £26,442 for the duration of the fixed-term contract. Additional benefits include free meals during the school day and access to excellent on-site sporting facilities, such as a gym, swimming pool, and tennis courts. The school provides opportunities for professional development, including coaching, officiating qualifications, and training in performance analysis tools. Staff can also engage in wider school activities, including lectures and events, contributing to both personal and professional growth within a supportive educational environment.

Process

Applicants are required to complete an application form detailing their suitability and motivation for the role, with the option to submit additional supporting information. Early applications are encouraged. The recruitment process includes pre-employment checks such as references, proof of identity and qualifications, and an enhanced DBS check. Shortlisted candidates may also be subject to a social media screening. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people, and all staff are expected to uphold these values and contribute positively to the wider school community throughout their appointment.
