St Catherine's School - Teacher of PE - Netball and/or Lacrosse Specialism

Summary

St Catherine's is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic Teacher of Physical Education to join our thriving PE Department from January or April 2027 with a Netball and/or Lacrosse specialism.

Detail

We are recruiting for two positions, offering flexibility for the right candidates:

  • One permanent Teacher of PE
  • One fixed-term Teacher of PE, for either two terms or one year

Both roles may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.

St Catherine’s prides itself on its sporting success at every level, and the successful candidates will play an important role in inspiring pupils to enjoy, participate in and excel through sport. We are looking for enthusiastic and effective teachers and coaches who are passionate about Physical Education and keen to make a positive contribution to a busy, supportive and ambitious department.

An ability to teach and coach Netball and/or Lacrosse to a high level is essential. Experience across other sports would also be advantageous, particularly football and summer sports such as athletics, tennis and cricket, as well as swimming, trampolining, rounders and gymnastics.

As well as delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons across the curriculum, the successful candidates will contribute fully to the School’s extensive co-curricular sporting programme. This will include coaching teams, supporting fixtures, clubs and activities, and taking an active role in weekend matches, usually on Saturdays with occasional Sundays.

We are looking for candidates who will:

  • bring energy, enthusiasm and expertise to the teaching and coaching of PE;
  • motivate and engage pupils of differing abilities and encourage them to achieve their best;
  • coach Netball and/or Lacrosse confidently and effectively;
  • contribute positively and creatively to the continued development of the PE Department;
  • work collaboratively with colleagues and build strong, positive relationships with pupils;
  • contribute enthusiastically to fixtures, clubs and the wider co-curricular life of the School;
  • maintain high professional standards and a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing; and
  • keep their knowledge and coaching practice current within their sporting specialism.

The ability to teach Academic PE at GCSE and/or A Level would be desirable, as would experience of teaching or coaching football and one or more of the School’s summer sports.

High standards are expected of both staff and pupils at St Catherine’s, within a lively and supportive working environment where communication is excellent. The PE Department is well resourced, and this is an exciting opportunity for a talented teacher and coach to contribute to a successful sporting programme and to the wider life of the School.

Applicants are encouraged to highlight any additional sporting expertise or particular areas of enthusiasm within their supporting statement.
