Hours: 38 hours per week, 37 weeks a year
Typical Schedule: Mon–Fri (8:00am–3:30pm), Sat (8:00am–12:30pm), with one afternoon off weekly

We are looking for a passionate, organised and safety-conscious Science Technician to support our vibrant Chemistry department at Stowe School. As a key part of our science team, you’ll help deliver engaging practical chemistry lessons by preparing experiments, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety, and mentoring assistant technicians.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Preparing and setting up apparatus, specimens, and chemicals for lessons.
- Supporting practical work across GCSE and A-Level Chemistry.
- Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met and risk assessments are in place.
- Managing stock, purchasing consumables, and maintaining inventories.
- Guiding and training assistant technicians.
- Supporting science events and school initiatives beyond the classroom.
What We’re Looking For:
- Sound knowledge of science, especially Chemistry (GCSE level or above).
- Understanding of safe lab practices and willingness to learn.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- IT proficiency (Microsoft Word & Excel).
Stowe School
