We are seeking a Porter (Evening Shift) to join our Estates team to provide a welcoming environment for the school community, to enhance the security of our site and to support our programme of events.
The Portsmouth Grammar School is a leading co-educational school located in the historic heart of Portsmouth. We are very much a family school known for excellent teaching, superb pastoral care and wide-ranging co-curricular opportunities and offer an education across the age range from Pre-School to Sixth Form.
The Porter (Evening Shift) is responsible for supporting the successful day-to-day operations of the Estates Department. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to enhance the security of the school site, provide support as directed to the school’s busy and varied events programme and create a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the school community and external visitors. A uniform will be provided.
The Estates and Operations Bursar has overall responsibility for all the Estates support functions within the school, including Security, Health and Safety, caretaking, cleaning, maintenance, grounds maintenance, and transport. The Porter (Evening Shift) will work alongside the Caretaker (Evening Shift), reporting to the Head Marshal who is responsible for all porter and caretaker requirements, and the Porter (Night Shift) will be expected to cover for any Caretaker (Night Shift) absence that may result from sickness or annual leave.
This is a part-time post for 30 hours per week Monday to Friday from 16.00 to 22.00 each day. In addition to the contracted hours, some flexibility is required to work additional hours on an ad hoc basis as follows;
