About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of French to join our friendly and forward thinking MFL Department. This is a part time role (0.6), with the potential to increase to full time if another (non MFL) subject can be offered. You will teach French from Pre Prep to Year 8 and play an active role in helping pupils develop confidence, curiosity and a real love of language learning.

You will support the Head of MFL in maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, contribute to curriculum development, and help deliver an engaging programme of trips, visits and cultural activities.

What You Will Do

  • Teach French across the school and create an engaging, supportive and ambitious learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver high quality lessons that stretch, support and inspire all pupils.
  • Contribute to schemes of work and ongoing curriculum development.
  • Support MFL teaching from Pre-Prep to Year 8, including pupils preparing for scholarships.
  • Use effective assessment strategies to monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Help support language based trips, including the annual residential to France.
  • Contribute to digital learning through platforms such as Google Classroom and My School Portal.
  • Celebrate pupils’ work through high quality displays and contributions to school events.
  • Work with colleagues across subjects to support cross curricular learning.
  • Contribute to cultural activities such as the European Day of Languages and national competitions.
  • Build positive partnerships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

What We Are Looking For

A positive, motivated and committed teacher who brings enthusiasm, strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their best.

Essential:

  • A strong academic background with a degree in French or a closely related subject.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of effective language pedagogy.
  • Experience teaching French to pupils of varying abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create an inclusive and ambitious learning environment.
  • Confidence using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
  • Willingness to contribute to the co curricular life of the school.
  • A reflective and proactive approach to professional development.

Desirable:

  • Ability to teach Spanish.
  • Experience teaching in a prep school or similar setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils preparing for scholarship assessments.
  • Experience contributing to trips, cultural events or language enrichment.
  • Familiarity with Google Classroom or similar digital platforms.
  • Interest in boarding, with possible on site accommodation available.
