The Role

Working in the boarding houses under the day-to-day supervision of the Domestic Supervisor, Summer Domestic Cleaners are responsible for the cleanliness and readiness of allocated areas to ensure a welcoming environment for all summer school residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning Standards: Clean allocated areas including dining rooms, bathrooms, dormitories, communal areas, classrooms, and stairways to a high standard. Tasks involve emptying bins, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, and vacuuming.
• Linen Management: Change bedding on a weekly basis and occasionally turn or change mattresses as required.
• Operational Support: Periodically clean the internal glass of windows, which may involve the safe use of a stepladder.
• Safety & Reporting: Immediately report any defects, safety hazards, or accidents to the Supervisor to maintain a safe campus for all visitors.
• Flexibility: Work effectively both individually and as part of a team, covering for absent staff when required and undertaking other reasonable tasks as requested by the Supervisor.

About You

We are looking for motivated individuals with a positive attitude and a keen eye for detail. While previous cleaning experience is beneficial, it is not essential as we value reliability and a commitment to high standards above all else.

• Professional Standards: A desire to ensure work is completed to the highest possible standard and a willingness to follow the College’s required cleaning protocols.
• Personal Attributes: A positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
• Reliability: Consistently punctual with a reliable approach to shift commitments.
• Physical Capability: A suitable level of fitness to move easily around a large boarding house and the ability to lift reasonably heavy items such as cleaning equipment and laundry bags.
• Desirable Knowledge: While training is provided, a prior understanding of COSHH and current health and safety procedures is an advantage.

What We Offer

• Contract Type: Short-term, zero-hours position.
• Start Date: Monday 29 June 2026.
• Duration: Monday 29 June 2026 to Wednesday 2 September 2026.
• Hours of Work: Between 20–42 hours available per week. Shifts typically range from 08:30 – 16:00, ideally Monday to Saturday inclusive.
• Salary: £12.71 per hour plus holiday pay, totalling £14.41 per hour.
• Training: A comprehensive induction day including COSHH and Health & Safety training will be provided before commencement.
