An exciting and highly rewarding opportunity as Deputy Housemistress has arisen for an ambitious and pupil-centred professional in an award winning, world class school.


The Deputy Housemistress will reside in a boarding house, assisting the Housemistress and House team in overseeing each girl’s personal and academic development, taking a full and active role in all aspects of life within the boarding house.

The minimum expectation is of six duties per week, split into mornings and evenings, and include taking responsibility for the House during the Housemistress’ time off during the week and at allocated weekends. You should expect to be fully responsible for the House for some mornings and evenings. There may be the need to provide overnight cover in House as part of the House Rota. 

The Deputy Housemistress can usually expect to teach up to 22 (35 minute) periods each week and work before and after the end of each term. You will hold a relevant degree and be an inspirational teacher. Applications from all subjects relevant to our curriculum will be considered, and full support and mentoring given to those new to the profession. Boarding experience or experience working in boarding schools is desirable.

Flexibility to respond to the unexpected, a sense of humour and enthusiasm are essential, as is the ability to command respect from staff and girls alike. You will be the second point of contact for parents and should be confident in developing that relationship.
